Greetings everyone, we’re back with another Gatebreaker Updater! We’re in a new month and the start of the holiday season! Yes, I know, there’s some rule that apparently we all voted on that says it’s not OFFICIALLY the holiday season until the credits roll on the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. But dang it, this isn’t just a Gatebreaker site, this is a RULEBREAKER site. Arbitrary societal rules go by the wayside. If you want to wear Crocs with Socks, have at it. You want to eat pineapple on your pizza? Go ahead. You wanna put your holiday decorations up now? Please go right ahead. So long as you’re not hurting yourself or anyone else, enjoy yourself. Life is too short to be bound by stupid societal “Rules”. 

Speaking of stupid things, I have an update on my Twitter situation… after many attempts to get my old account reactivated and a final appeal denied, I’ve concluded it’s a lost cause. Heck, I can’t even get an updated Archive, which contains my entire Twitter History from the day I created my account to the present. The only archive I have is from 2018 — seven years ago. And trust me, there are a lot of memories in those seven years I would like to keep. Thanks to the good denizens of Reddit, I found steps to request my archive, and I sent an email to the appropriate parties. Part of me feels that I emailed Grok, but hey, whatever gets the job done. After a few days, I got an email back saying my archive was ready. However, the archive I got back was for someone COMPLETELY different in a COMPLETELY different country—tweets, Pictures, DM’s…the WHOLE THING. NOT mine.

Yeah, I don’t get it either. 

Keep in mind that I sent my username and email address to them… yet they sent me someone else’s account… from ENGLAND. Just a reminder that I live in LOUISIANA. There’s quite a bit of distance between Louisiana and London, England. Maybe an ocean too, if memory serves. I sent back an email saying that they just sent me all the personal information for a completely different person and to please send MY archive, but lord only knows if they’ll even reply or whose archive I will get. 

As to what caused my suspension in the first place? I think I know what caused it, and it’s just as stupid as you would think…and most importantly, I’m not alone. Early this morning, a friend of mine posted about a mass suspension wave on Twitter, targeting users of the Old TweetDeck extension. The extension’s creator found the issue and applied a fix, but there’s still a risk that non-Premium accounts could get whacked with the Ban Hammer. It’s crazy, but hey, it’s the time we’re living in.

Meanwhile, Tesla just gave Muskrat more money making him a literal TRILLIONAIRE…ugh. Giving money to mentally questionable people is never a good idea. Just look at Congress. But I digress… 

On happier, non-Twitter-related news, I’m humbled and proud to say that my Samurai Streaming Survey series has gotten lots of good feedback! The most popular one, hands down, has to be the OceanVeil review, which even got some positive feedback from OceanVeil Social Media. Truth be told, I was most nervous about that one, as I didn’t recommend them, but they took the critique graciously, and that was a great relief. Even more exciting, they used my post as a discussion point for how they could best improve, which I totally appreciate! And to top it all off, the OceanVeil survey is THE most successful post of all time on Samurai Gatebreaker, with over 100 views in the first day! I’m just over the moon over this, guys, and I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart! While I know 100 views don’t mean much to some bigger sites, to me, starting on my own again, it means so much! So again, thank you all so much! 

So, what’s up for November? Of course, I’m going to finish up the Samurai Streaming Survey with a look at Netflix, Amazon Prime, and maybe a few other streaming services. I’m also finally—FINALLY—going to put out the first If/Then post that I’ve been promising for a long time! I really wanted to put it out for Halloween, but I had another writing project to finish, and that, plus work, left me wiped out! But trust me, it’s coming, guys, I promise! I’ll also be offering some on-the-ground commentary on an anime convention I’ll be attending later this month, in addition to a local convention I attended this past Sunday!

Also, I think I’ll do a breakdown on the Ghibli Movies. Last year, I sat down and watched all the mainstream Ghibli Movies, from Castle in the Sky all the way to The Boy and the Heron, scoring them as I went along on BlueSky, and making the financially questionable decision to BUY them all. I think a breakdown of these legendary movies will be helpful for new fans and a conversation starter for those who grew up with the films.

And, of course, I might come up with some other random post ideas that pop into my head. That’s what you signed up for, after all—Cajun Randomness–a gumbo of ideas that come together to make something prodigiously tasty.
